About Crested Geckos
Crested Geckos are the best choice for first time reptile keepers. They require no heat lamps or UVB lighting, thrive at normal room temperature, and can live entirely on prepared gecko powder diets mixed with water. However, your gecko will grow faster and will appreciate crickets once a week. Their hardiness can allow for minor mistakes in humidity or temperature that would stress more delicate species. This combination of simple care and hardy disposition makes them ideal starter geckos for both children and adults.
Adult Crested Geckos reach 7 to 9 inches total length, with roughly half of that measurement being their prehensile tail. Males typically trend slightly larger and more robust than females, particularly in the head and neck region. They reach adult size around 18 months with consistent feeding and proper care. Their moderate size makes them easy to handle and house without requiring massive enclosures.
While crested Geckos can do well on prepared gecko diets like Zoomed, Pangea or Repashy, they will definitely benefit from weekly cricket offerings.
